Why a longcase should not be moved
A weight-driven clock is not a cabinet. The pendulum hangs on a thin suspension spring, and the weights pull on the movement through gut line or cable. Lift the case with all of that still inside and the pendulum swings against the crutch, the suspension spring bends or snaps, and the weights swing into the trunk. Trains get strained. Teeth get bent. The damage often shows up weeks later as a clock that will not keep time. The weights and pendulum have to come off first, in order, and the movement secured. That is a job for someone who has done it before.
Home visits for large clocks
Home visits are available across Delhi-NCR for antique clocks and watches. For a grandfather or longcase, a bracket or mantel clock, or a cuckoo that has stopped chiming, this is usually the sensible route. The clock stays where it stands. We come to it, examine the movement in place, and tell you what it needs. Some faults are settled on the spot. Others call for the movement to come back to the workshop, and if so, it is removed properly rather than carried out inside the case. Call (+91) 8700956690 to arrange a visit.
Watches belong at the bench
A wristwatch is a different matter. It travels safely in a padded box, and the workshop is where the tools, the parts and the good light all are. Customers reach us from Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Dwarka, Rohini and Vasant Kunj. Quartz, mechanical and vintage watches, luxury brands included, are all handled here, along with battery replacement, crystal replacement, strap replacement, dial refinishing and engraving. A full service or overhaul happens at the bench too. If you are travelling in, ring ahead and describe what the watch is doing.
