Terms of Service
These terms explain how we work at The Time Care: how estimates are given, how repairs are approved, what happens when a movement hides a surprise, and how items left with us are looked after.
This website is for information
Everything on this site is here to tell you what we do and how to find us. It is not a binding offer to repair any particular piece, and nothing here forms a contract on its own. A job only becomes a job when you bring the piece to us or we see it at your home, we look at it, we give you an estimate, and you tell us to go ahead. We try to keep the pages accurate, but details about services and working hours can change. If something matters to your decision, please ring us on (+91) 8700956690 and check.
Free estimates, quoted upfront
We give free estimates on all repairs. Once we have examined your watch or clock, we tell you what we think is wrong, what the work involves, what it will cost, and roughly how long it is likely to take. You get that before anything is dismantled for repair. Nothing is charged and no work begins until you have agreed to the estimate. If you would rather not go ahead, that is completely fine and you owe us nothing for looking. You can take the piece away, and the estimate is yours to think about or to compare elsewhere.
When a movement hides a surprise
Old movements do not always show their faults from the outside. A watch can look like a simple service until the plates come apart and a worn pivot, a cracked jewel, a previous bodged repair or a corroded wheel turns up underneath. If we find something that changes the work or the cost, we stop and tell you first. You then decide whether to continue at the revised figure, to have us do only part of the work, or to have the piece reassembled and returned. We will not carry out extra work and present you with a larger bill afterwards.
Parts for vintage and antique pieces
Spare parts for older watches and clocks are often no longer made. Depending on the piece, a part may have to be tracked down from a specialist supplier, taken from a donor movement, or made by hand at the bench. Any of these takes time, and sourcing in particular is not something we can fully control. This is why the timeframe we give with an estimate is an honest expectation rather than a promise. If a part proves harder to find than we thought, we will tell you where things stand rather than leave you wondering.
Items left with us
We look after every piece left at the workshop as carefully as we would our own, and we keep customers' items secure while they are with us. When your piece is ready, we will contact you on the number or email you gave us so you can collect it. Please collect it reasonably promptly, and please keep your receipt or job reference, as we use it to match the piece to you. If your contact details change while a repair is in progress, let us know, otherwise we may not be able to reach you.
High-value and irreplaceable pieces
Some pieces carry a value far beyond the cost of repairing them, whether that is a market value or a family one. If your watch or clock falls into that category, please tell us when you hand it over rather than afterwards. We can then talk through how the piece will be handled, what the risks of a particular restoration are, and whether any additional arrangements are sensible on your side before work starts. An open conversation at the counter is worth far more than an assumption, and it lets both of us agree what is reasonable for that piece.
Governing law
These terms, and any work we do for you, are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of them is subject to the courts at Delhi. We would much rather sort out a problem by talking to you than by anything more formal, so if you are unhappy with a repair or with how we have handled something, please tell us first and give us the chance to look at it. In our experience most misunderstandings about a movement are settled quickly once the piece is back on the bench in front of us.
How to contact us
You can find us at C-7/147, Sewa Sadan, Sangam Vihar, Bandh Road, New Delhi - 110062. We are open Monday to Sunday, 09:00 to 18:00. Phone (+91) 8700956690 or email [email protected]. We work across Delhi-NCR, and for antique clocks and watches we can visit you at home where that makes more sense than moving the piece. If you have a question about these terms, or about anything we have quoted you, ring us and ask. We would rather explain it properly than have you guess.
